Colles Fracture

  • A distal radius fracture with volar apex angulation and dorsal displacement of the fracture fragment.
  • Occurs when one falls on an outstretched hand with the wrist extended and forearm pronated.
  • 50% are associated with an ulnar styloid fracture.
  • The most common group with this fracture are elderly women.
